Fresh Install

Post by charlesallsop »

I have consistently seen a reduction in FPS, probably owing to add ons etc so perhaps time to do a fresh install? Is it recommended to uninstall Generated files and then reinstall add ons? Or uninstall Client, Scenery etc and then re install?

Delete the generated files will already fix a lot of things. It's worth do a test run with this first. The settings will be probably lower after this and give you more fps. Also addons need to be added again. On first start, the program asks you, wheater you want allow an addon or not.

If you reinstall, sometimes just the client does repair broken files of the main program. You only need this if something no longer works as before. A complete reinstall is good, if you have broken files in scenery and content. This is rather seldom. I don't expect it to improve your fps more than a defrag process could do (if you still use a HD drive). For SSDs this is not needed.

A full install is done at once. So first uninstall complete P3D and then install the complete package with the main installler.

Hi Dan, maybe I am not correct in suggesting this method, I just seem to find average FPS were about 40-50 and now 20-25 with the same aircraft at the same airport. Also when selecting an aircraft the list of aircraft takes about a minute to load. Otherwise it all still works ok.
